Look at the impact you are making! -Alzheimer’s Association

You’re a crucial part of this battle. Whether you donate to the cause, advocate for those who cannot or participate in events across the world, you’re helping to create change.

Your passion fuels our work, from advocating for the needs and rights of those facing the disease, to offering support to individuals whose lives have been impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. There is still much to do in the fight against Alzheimer’s, but we know we can continue to make strides with your support.

Providing guidance:
The Alzheimer’s Association recently launched our I Have Alzheimer’s Diseasewebsite, featuring information and tools for those living in the early stage of Alzheimer’s or other dementias. “This site should be the first ‘Go To‘ after diagnosis. I wish this around when I was diagnosed but I am so glad it is available now,” said Terry Berry, a member of the national Alzheimer’s Association Early-Stage Advisory Group. “I can navigate easily and refresh my memory, or address changes, with the tools presented on the website. I’m confident that I Have Alzheimer’s Disease will help others facing similar challenges.”

Impacting public policy: The Alzheimer’s Association strives to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease as a serious health threat while offering the Association as a dedicated and reliable resource. More than 700 Alzheimer’s advocates representing all 50 states took part in the 2013 Alzheimer’s Association Advocacy Forum in Washington, D.C. Attendees celebrated the rich history of the Association’s efforts to push Alzheimer’s into the political spotlight and encouraged elected officials to pledge or continue their support of the fight against the disease. “It’s incredibly hard when the disease claims one of our advocates or their loved ones. But we keep at it because this is a battle we must win. We come back, year after year – and will continue to for as long as it takes.” – Alzheimer’s ambassador, Bob Marino
Offering around-the-clock support: Our professionally staffed 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) provides information and advice to nearly 300,000 callers each year. This includes individuals like Anne, who expressed her appreciation for the assistance she received during several Helpline calls. Anne’s husband has Alzheimer’s, and she initially called for tips and advice to help with some of his behaviors. Most recently, she contacted us again and explained how she applied these strategies and noted that they’ve really made a difference for their family.
Accelerating research: Since its debut in 2010, Alzheimer’s Association TrialMatch® has referred more than 16,000 people to Alzheimer’s clinical studies based on their diagnosis, preferences and location. Study participant Gary Michiels, diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year, is now enrolled in the trial of a potentially disease-modifying drug. “I need to do my part in keeping Alzheimer’s from trickling down through generations,” said Gary. “I have nothing to lose and everything to gain, if not for myself, then for others who run the risk of having this disease.”

All of these efforts have one thing in common: you. Without your support and your belief in our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease, these accomplishments would not be possible. Because of you, the Alzheimer’s Association is able to provide the help and hope needed to win this fight. There is still much to do to achieve our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease, but we know we can continue to make strides with your support.

After three incredible days of working together to make Alzheimer’s a national priority on Capitol Hill, they headed home to continue the fight in their own districts.
