Recently, I wrote you about researcher Dave Morgan, Ph.D., whose commitment to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias gives us all reason to hope. Now I’d like to introduce you to Gordon Broom, whose passion for advocacy around Alzheimer’s is infectious.
Diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s in 2007 at age 55, Gordon is an Alzheimer’s Association National Early-Stage Advisor. He is also committed to generating support – and action – from his elected officials by volunteering as an advocate.
“I got involved because people have to step up to the plate,” he explains. “The more legislators we can educate, the more help we can get from Congress to fund research and services for those with the disease and their families.”
Gordon’s story is uplifting and inspiring, and illustrates the power each one of us has to help us move closer to our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s. Please read it and take a moment to show your support by making a donation today.

People who act out their dreams while sleeping may be at an increased risk of developing dementia with Lewy bodies, a new study suggests. Researchers said study participants with rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder were five times more likely to develop dementia with Lewy bodies — the second most-common form of dementia after Alzheimer’s disease. Normally, people don’t move during REM sleep, which occurs many times during the night.
