Your donation can have twice the impact – Alzheimer’s disease

We have a challenge to meet and only you can help us.
We recently wrote to you about a special challenge match offered by the trustee of the Karen Wrenn Trust, Marjorie Bekaert Thomas of Florida. She has agreed to give $100,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association if we raise this same amount by September 30.
Help us seize this exceptional opportunity by making a gift today.Your tax-deductible donation of $50 can become $100, or a gift of $100 can become $200. Any amount you give can have twice the impact and help us continue to advance vital research, and enhance care and support for everyone affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
We are so close but we need your help to meet this generous match.
Will you accept the challenge?
Time is limited! Please give today.

AEDA Newsletter – Do a Little Big Thing in September – Alzheimer’s Association

September – Do a Little Big Thing
In September, the Alzheimer’s Association encourages those in the workplace to “Do a Little Big Thing” in the fight against Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Small actions such as hosting a fundraising event and going “Casual for a Cause” by encouraging employees to dress down in exchange for a small donation can make a big difference. Or work with your local Alzheimer’s Association chapter to host an educational session or support group at the office. Share this list of activities with your employees for more ideas on how to make an impact this month.

October – National Hispanic Heritage Month
During the month of October, the Alzheimer’s Association asks for your help in recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month*. Latinos are statistically 1.5 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than Caucasians. They face increased risk of an Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis due to higher rates of cardiovascular disease and higher stress levels in a caregiving role. Education, awareness and communication is vital to help those affected by this disease. Please take a moment and share this important article with all of your employees, featuring links to available tools, resources and brochures in both English and Spanish.

*Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. – http://hispanicheritagemonth.gov/

November – Recognize National Family Caregiver Month
November is National Family Caregiver Month and this month the Alzheimer’s Association focuses on spreading awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia while offering support to the more than 15 million individuals who act as caregivers. The Association has several tools to assist caregivers, including Alzheimer’s Navigator®, and ALZ Connected®, offered free of charge through alz.org. Share a sampling of these tools and the full listing on the Alzheimer’s Association’s Care Center.
