What is Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's is a brain disease that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia can affect every aspect of a person's life. It can diminish the ability to understand, reason, and communicate; it can alter behavior, emotions and moods and it can have detrimental effects on physical health.

Caregivers who work with this illness are trained to:

• Provide safety supervision
• Encourage social interaction and mind stimulating activities
• Manage confrontations and changing behaviors
• Provide nutritional support and meal planning
• Assist with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

Caregiver Training

Optimum Senior Care's caregivers have completed a special Alzheimer's Care training course and receive ongoing training as well. This training helps our caregivers to increase their knowledge of care for elderly clients with Alzheimer's disease and Dementia diseases.
