The Alzheimer’s Association® Greater Illinois Chapter is currently seeking new members to join its Junior Board. This group of civic-minded young professionals in their 20s and 30s is dedicated to raising awareness of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
“I sought out the Junior Board because I was looking for a group that provided both fundraising and hands-on service opportunities to benefit those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers,” said board member Andrew Levy. “The Junior Board provides trips to an assisted living facility in Lincoln Park, fundraising happy hours and various other opportunities such as volunteer staffing for the Association’s Walks to End Alzheimer’s.
Some who serve on the board have lost a loved one, some have watched a friend suffer, and some have been caregiver — but all are united by a desire to see an end to Alzheimer’s disease.
“It has been good to know friends facing similar issues and it helps focus the board on its objectives,” Levy added.
