Early stage memory loss support group starting in March
An early stage support group will meet weekly for eight weeks at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village beginning in March 2014. Simultaneous meetings for care partners of those diagnosed will also be held. “Early Stage” refers to people, irrespective of age, who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders and are in the beginning stages of the disease.

Simultaneous meetings for care partners of those diagnosed will also be held. “Early Stage” refers to people, irrespective of age, who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders and are in the beginning stages of the disease. In this stage, individuals retain the ability to participate in daily activities and in a give-and-take dialogue.
Group discussion topics may include: Basics of memory loss and treatment options, ways to cope with changes in daily life, tips to maximize strengths, relationship changes, financial and legal planning, balancing safety and independence and ideas for staying active.
