Alzheimer’s Association co-publishes brain amyloid imaging guidelines

Sticky lesions in the brain known as amyloid plaques are considered one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease. With positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, amyloid deposits can now be identified while people are still living. To help clarify the situation, the Alzheimer’s Association and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging have created the first-ever guidelines for using amyloid PET imaging compounds.
