Reason to Hope table hosts needed – Alzheimer’s disease

Reason to Hope is a powerful one-hour fundraising luncheon and program on Alzheimer’s disease. Guests will learn more about our efforts to provide care and support to the many families in need in Illinois, as well as help advance the important field of Alzheimer’s research. You will hear an impactful first-hand account from someone living with the disease or caregiver that will reflect the positive impact our programs have on families and the Illinois healthcare community.

There has never been a more critical time to support the Alzheimer’s Association. Today, 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, including an estimated 200,000 under the age of 65. This number is projected to jump to 16 million by 2050 unless we can find a cure or effective way to slow down the progression. You are invited to help alter the trajectory of this disease by attending an upcoming Reason to Hope event.

The funds raised from Reason to Hope help us provide care and support to more than 210,000 people living with Alzheimer’s in Illinois and the estimated 589,000 caregivers.

Communities aim to be dementia-friendly as Alzheimer’s numbers grow

While some people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias may end up home-bound or in care facilities, many spend years after diagnosis living in their communities. A growing movement has the goal of increasing sensitivity and reducing stigma while helping people stay in their homes and communities for as long as possible.

Illinois Action Summit Itinerary

At the beginning of the summit, you will receive a briefing on the Association’s policy priorities for 2016 as well as messages to carry to legislators throughout the afternoon. The Alzheimer’s Association will also provide appropriate strategies for a successful visit.

This event provides an opportunity for you to engage with your legislators. Advocates will visit several members of both the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives, sharing personal stories and asking lawmakers for their support of active legislation designed to make Illinois a dementia capable state.

In joining this one-day effort, advocates have a chance to change the lives of nearly one million Illinois residents impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. Alongside key policy-makers who share a common vision for this cause, each individual has the capacity to make an incredible impact on how lawmakers address Alzheimer’s disease and respond to this ever-growing epidemic.

Transportation to the Capitol will be arranged from a variety of locations, with both lunch and snacks provided.
