We need your help to advance Alzheimer’s research

We need your help to advance Alzheimer’s research

Through clinical trials, researchers test new ways to detect, treat and prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Recruiting and retaining study participants is now the greatest obstacle, other than funding, to developing the next generation of Alzheimer’s treatments. Use our TrialMatch® service to find a clinical trial that’s right for you.

Overview

Welcome to Alzheimer’s Association TrialMatch®, a free, easy-to-use clinical studies matching service that connects individuals with Alzheimer’s, caregivers, healthy volunteers and physicians with current studies. Our continuously updated database of 130+ Alzheimer’s clinical trials includes both pharmacological (drug) and non-pharmacological (non-drug) studies being conducted at nearly 500 trial sites across the country.

We need your help to advance research

Through clinical trials, researchers test new ways to detect, treat and prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Recruiting and retaining clinical trial participants is now the greatest obstacle, other than funding, to developing the next generation of Alzheimer’s treatments.

We need your help. Without participation, finding a cure is virtually impossible.

People with Alzheimer’s, caregivers and healthy volunteers are all needed today to participate in Alzheimer’s and dementia research.

When you join a clinical trial, you have an opportunity to participate in vital research that could change the course of this disease and improve the lives of all those it affects. Your participation in clinical trials gives us optimism for today and promise for the future. Use the TrialMatch service above to find a clinical trial now.

Information to share with your family
If you are thinking about joining a clinical trial, talk with your family. Share a TrialMatch brochure with them. It explains how to use the service and the types of Alzheimer’s-related clinical trials being conducted across the country.

Where do trial listings come from?

The trial listings in the Alzheimer’s Association TrialMatch come from publicly available sources, such asclinicaltrials.gov from the National Institutes of Health. In addition, direct outreach is being made to a wide variety of research facilities and trial sites across the country to include their Alzheimer’s/dementia studies in the database. Alzheimer’s Association TrialMatch only lists trials and studies that have Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. This is a committee that approves, monitors and reviews research involving humans to protect the rights and welfare of the research subjects. Trials are also subject to additional vetting by the Alzheimer’s Association prior to being listed to ensure that listings only include credible trials and investigators.

Catalyst to progress

Since its debut in July 2010, Alzheimer’s Association TrialMatch has matched more than 8,500 people to Alzheimer’s clinical trials based on their diagnosis, preferences and location.

Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month begins

This June, join us as we recognize Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month.
Everyone with a brain is at risk to develop Alzheimer’s disease. Worldwide, there are at least 44 million people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and without a change, this number is expected to grow to 76 million by 2030.
But everyone can help end this epidemic — especially you. Here’s how to get involved:

Go Purple — During the month of June, wear purple, the color of Alzheimer’s awareness, and inspire others to take action. Visit alz.org/shop and use codeABAM20 for a 20% discount on purple products. For other creative ideas to turn June purple, visit alz.org/abam.

Join The Longest Day® — On June 21, participate in The Longest Day to honor those living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. Do what you love from sunrise to sunset to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. For you, it’s just one day. For people facing Alzheimer’s, it’s every day. Sign up now.

Share the Facts — Someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s every 67 seconds. Post, tweet and share the facts about this devastating disease and why fighting it is important to you.

Take Action — Learn how to become an advocate, participate in research through Alzheimer’s Association TrialMatch® or join our women’s movement by sharing why your brain matters.

Thank you for using your brain power this June to help fight Alzheimer’s disease.
