Help Carol-Ann – your gift can go twice as far – Alzheimer’s Association

Help Carol-Ann – your gift can go twice as far – Alzheimer’s Association

I’m grateful for your support of the Alzheimer’s Association. Your generosity helps us provides care and support for the millions of people affected by Alzheimer’s disease this holiday season and advances research in our search for methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure.
Today, I’m thrilled to share another way you can show your commitment to the cause. Another generous matching gift donor has come forward, andwe need your help once again this holiday season. Carol-Ann was so moved by the response to her matching gift challenge last year that she has agreed to donate another $100,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association if we can raise that same amount by the end of the year.

You can make twice the impact when your gift goes twice as far.
$35 can become $70
$60 can become $120
$120 can become $240

Carol-Ann is making this matching gift in honor of her mother, who died with Alzheimer’s disease in 2001. “I think life is a gift — a gift of discovery and challenges and relationships,” she says. “It’s not fair that Alzheimer’s makes you lose your memories, who you are, where you’ve been, the contributions that you’ve made. As my mother progressed into the later stages, the blank look in her eyes just haunts me.”
Any amount you give will help us provide care and support this holiday season for people like Carol-Ann, her mother and their family. And it will help us advance cutting-edge research that could lead to methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer’s.
Carol-Ann is passionate about finding the answers to Alzheimer’s — and I know you are, too. Please, make your year-end gift today and help us move one step closer to our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease. When you give before December 31, your tax-deductible donation of $35 can become $70, or your generous gift of $60 can become $120.
Carol-Ann explains, “Being a caregiver for my mom was hard. Thank goodness for the support system of the Association.” Please give generously today, so we can continue to be a vital resource for those who are affected by Alzheimer’s.

This family foundation will match your gift, up to $50,000 – Alzheimer’s Association

This family foundation will match your gift, up to $50,000 – Alzheimer’s Association

Because of your dedication to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, we just met our $25,000 match sponsored by an anonymous donor. Thank you so much for supporting the millions of people who are affected by this cruel and fatal disease.
We need your help once again, because the Eisenberg Family Foundation has generously agreed to give $50,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association if we raise that same amount by the end of the year. We can’t do this without your support.

You can make an even bigger difference when you give now.
$35 can become $70
$60 can become $120
$120 can become $240

The Eisenberg Family Foundation was established to honor their parents. Dr. Eisenberg, a cardiologist, explains, “Our mother was a fantastic cook. She always had the family over. But eventually, she couldn’t get any recipes correct. My father was a very successful business man but eventually lost the ability to do any financial transactions. This was heartbreaking to watch.”
Dr. Eisenberg and his family were devastated to watch his mother lose her independence. “With this kind of family history, my brother and I have an interest in advancing Alzheimer’s research. It’s something that hangs over our heads. I have three kids and three grandchildren. We need to learn how to change the natural history of Alzheimer’s so that they and others do not have to face this terrible illness.”
Any amount you give will help the Alzheimer’s Association continue to pursue our mission to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
When you give before December 31, your tax-deductible donation of $35 can become $70, or a gift of $60 can become $120.
When you make a gift that can go twice as far, you make twice the impact for people living with this disease, their families and caregivers. This holiday season, you can help us move closer to ending the tragic legacy of Alzheimer’s. Please give generously today.

An Alzheimer’s diagnosis doesn’t have to mean an end to traveling

Whether taking a short trip to see friends and family or going a far distance for vacation, it’s important to consider the difficulties and benefits of travel for a person with Alzheimer’s. A great way to honor a loved one – Alzheimer’s disease

A great way to honor a loved one – Alzheimer’s disease

The holiday dinner table is an American institution, a place for families to share laughs, love and fond memories. An empty seat at the table can be extremely painful and unfortunately, too many of us have lost loved ones to Alzheimer’s disease. If Alzheimer’s has taken someone from your table, reserve an Alzheimer’s Association license plate in honor of their memory.

The initial cost is a $10 reservation fee (plus a $1 credit card processing charge). Once the Secretary of State has received 1,500 reservations, production will begin, and every year after that, your annual license plate renewal fee will include an additional $25 charge, $23 of which will be donated directly to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, to fund care, support and awareness programs. High stress may be connected to memory problems – Alzheimer’s disease

High stress may be connected to memory problems – Alzheimer’s disease

New research says stress may be linked with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a decline in memory and thinking skills that can be a prelude to Alzheimer’s disease. In the study of older adults, feeling stressed was associated with a 30 percent greater risk of cognitive impairment. It’s not yet clear whether the stress causes Alzheimer’s, whether the decline into Alzheimer’s is what causes the high levels of stress or if both issues are involved.
