African-American seniors stroll down memory lane to help keep their brains sharp – Alzheimer’s – Optimum Senior Care – Chicago In Home Caregiverswww.OptimumSeniorCare.com

Seniors in Portland, Oregon’s African-American community are taking mile-long walks three times a week not only for health reasons but also to remember their cultural history in the city. A small but unique research study funded by the Alzheimer’s Association is investigating whether jogging memories where they were made — combined with physical activity — can help older African-Americans stay mentally sharp and slow early memory loss.

Important: Matching Gift Challenge Just Announced – Alzheimer’s – Optimum Senior Care – Chicago In Home Caregiverswww.OptimumSeniorCare.com

Thank you for being such an important member of the Alzheimer’s Association community. I want to share a very exciting opportunity for your gift to go twice as far in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
The Pelletier Family Foundation has pledged to give $100,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association if we can raise that same amount by August 31. The foundation’s generosity will support the Association’s research efforts. Any amount you donate will go toward our mission to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
This matching gift challenge is a special opportunity for you to make one gift and have twice the impact. When you donate today, your gift of $35 can become $70, a gift of $60 can become $120 — or your especially generous gift of $120 can become $240.
Alzheimer’s disease is the nation’s largest under-recognized public health crisis, killing more people in the United States than breast and prostate cancer combined. That’s why your support of this limited-time opportunity is critical. Please help us make this matching gift challenge a success with your generous donation today. Thank you.

P.S. Don’t miss out. Double your impact when you donate by August 31.

Michael carries a blue flower – Alzheimer’s – Optimum Senior Care – Chicago In Home Caregiverswww.OptimumSeniorcareCorp.com

At Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, people carry flowers representing their connection to the disease. I carry a blue flower to symbolize that I’m living with dementia, and my wife Pamella carries a yellow flower to show that she’s my caregiver.
You might not realize how much your participation in Walk to End Alzheimer’s means to those who are living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. When people come up to me on Walk day to say they’re excited to see me there, I say, “Actually I’m the one who’s happy to see you.”
Being surrounded by so many people who want to raise funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association® makes me feel great. It makes me want to keep fighting this disease every day.
Will you register for your local Walk today at alz.org/walk?
Sincerely,
Michael H.
